Why?

So I frequently wonder why I like Doctor Who so much. The very first episode I watched was "Smith and Jones" with my brother and the reason we watched it was because it was on television late at night and it was so absolutely ridiculous and stupid that we had the best time mocking it as we watched! But I was intrigued by David Tennant who played the Doctor. I recognized him as Barty Crouch, Jr., from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and anything or anyone associated with Harry Potter I must look up. Plus I actually enjoyed Tennant's humor in the episode I watched. It was the only good thing about the episode, but I decided to look up the show to see if I could catch a little more of that humor. I ended up watching most of the episodes from series 2, 3, and 4, plus the specials. I enjoyed them but pretty much because of Tennant. A lot of the other acting seemed poor and the storylines stupid. Particularly the Daleks! Ugh, annoying! And not terrifying at all. But there were some good episodes, like Silence in the Library and Blink. Then when David Tennant left I figured it couldn't be good anymore since he was what I liked. I really don't like Christopher Eccleston and figured that Tennant was just a lucky find and the show wouldn't be any good anymore. Then I decided to watch an episode from series 5. That's when the obsession began. Matt Smith was fantastic! Not better than Tennant, but equal. But combine him with Steven Moffat as the new head writer and producer and the show suddenly became worthwhile on many levels. I realized that Moffat was the writer of all of my favorite Tennant episodes. With Moffat came better technology, a more cinematic feel to the whole thing. Doctor Who became more like a movie that was extremely long and spread out throughout the weeks. I've never followed t.v. shows very well, but suddenly I can't get enough of Doctor Who! It has everything I like: it's funny, scary, and British! So here is a long explanation to anyone who cares of how I got into Doctor Who. And I've been thinking of this because I just saw an awesome preview clip of the new series that has me going WHAT??? So excited to find out!
